Obituary

Mrs. Annie Louise Thompson born February 7, 1928, in Lauderdale
County, Alabama, to the late Lewis Perkins, Sr., and Katie Jones.
Our mother transitioned the same way she lived, quietly, on October 6,
at 2:24 p.m. to await her spiritual reward in heaven.
Mrs. Annie Louise was educated at Bethel School. Mrs. Annie Louise
was baptized at an early age and remained faithful to Bethel Lauderdale
Missionary Baptist Church. Her almsgiving was through the Kitchen
Ministry, where she was known for her pinto beans, sweet potatoes,
greens, and cornbread. Momma cooked until her health failed. Her
kitchen buddies were Mrs. Flora Cole, Mrs. May Liza Smith, Mrs.
Dorothy Stewart, and Mrs. Odell Campbell.
Mrs. Annie Louise was dedicated to her children and did not work outside
of the home for years. She was employed at Bradshaw High school as a
cafeteria lady and worked on the Grandparent Program.
While remaining at home, Momma was known as one of the west side
beauticians. Mrs Louise pressed many heads in her lifetime.
Mrs. Louise was one of the last Elders to the West Florence Community,
especially the Kinnard Street Family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Sr., her beloved daughter
Janice, her truly special granddaughter, Adrienne, and many other
relatives and friends.
She leaves behind cherished family: son, Alex Jr. of Florence; daughters,
Sheila and Diana, both of Florence; grandchildren, Quincy (Allyson)
Holland of Montgomery, Alabama, Lyndon (Fanja) Mitchell of
Pelham, Alabama, Allysia (Robert) Bates of Florence, Alabama; greatgrandchildren, Aeriel (Kendrick) Cole of Hoover, Alabama, Ayana Jones
of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Sydney Holland of Montgomery, Alabama,
Skye and Sienna Mitchell of Pelham, Alabama; uncles, Lewis (Mattie)
Johnson of Florence Lonel (Nita) of Michigan City, Michigan; special
kindred, Paul and Lillian Thompson, and Reverend Elder Darrell
(Mydrice) Andrews; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends
