Obituary

Thomas Owens, Jr. was born April 9, 1940, in
Chattanooga, Tennessee. His parents were the late Thomas
Owens, Sr. and Mrs. Willie Mae Moore Owens. They had a
family of four sons and three daughters. They were ordinary
people working to raise their children. Bishop Owens often told
us that he came from humble beginning. He didn't have much
education, as he often said. He had a saying, "What I have God
gave me; What I am, God made me; What I know, God taught
me and Where I am God Brought me.

At the invitation of his brother, he went to a church service one
night, not knowing God had a plan for his life. During the
service, the Spirit of the Lord fell mightily on him and stirred
his soul. From that night, he wanted more and more of God. He
went after God with his whole heart. Soon, he was filled with the
Holy Ghost. His Pastor sensed God's anointing on him and told
him God wanted him to preach. Being newly saved and filled
with the Holy Ghost, he started preaching. He started laying
hands on the sick, and they were healed. God was at work!!
Soon, he was invited to preach at various churches. He loved to
preach on the streets. He moved from Chattanooga, Tennessee to
Huntsville, Alabama. God had a plan! God used him greatly in
Huntsville with other Spirit filled preachers working together to
preach to lost souls. He joined in the ministry of Bishop Barber
from Louisville, Kentucky. The Lord led Bishop Barber to come
to Alabama. God had a plan! From the preaching, and meetings.
God set up a church in the Shoals area. God was working!
Bishop Barber anointed Elder (Bishop) Jerry Townsend as the first
pastor. He held that position for a time before going back to his
other congregation in Huntsville. Bishop Barber anointed Elder
(Bishop) Owens to pastor Healing Fountain Apostolic Faith
Church AND THE REST IS HISTORY! From 1972 until
January 20, 2022, he served as pastor with his whole heart. Job
well done Bishop Owens.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Jessie Dean Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Co-Pastor Sandra Owens; three sons;
Michael Owens, Jonathan Owens and Chris Owens (Sheneca),
four daughters; Deborah Turner, Tommie Sandra Pierce, Wendy
Langford and Jessica Lewis, three brothers; Bobby Howard
(Leala), Joe Owens (Francis) and Fred Owens (Geneva), two
