Mr. Carl McCroskey, Sr. was born February 11, 1937, to the late Mr. Lewis and Mrs. Fannie McCroskey in Decatur, Alabama. He served his country in the United States Army in 1960. He formed a union with Josie Fuqua in 1960, and they married in September 1976. He worked in construction for over 40 years. Upon his retirement, Carl enjoyed fishing, watching sports, and spending quality time with his family.
Carl departed this life at the age of 80 years old on March 6, 2017, at ECM Hospital in Florence, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Collis McCroskey; and his sisters, Eunicestine Hodges and Gwendolyn Davis.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Josie McCroskey of Sheffield, Alabama; six daughters, Lawanda (the late James) Mangrum of Sheffield, Alabama, Sherry McCroskey, Cassandra McCroskey, Tijuana Brown, Monica Garner, and Carlita McCroskey, all of Florence, Alabama; two sons, Darrell (Teresa) Brown of Decatur, Alabama, and Carl McCroskey, Jr. of Florence, Alabama; one brother, Lewis McCroskey of Florence, Alabama; three sisters, Jean Foster and Geraldine (Robert) Foster, both of Florence, Alabama, and Cathryn Hargrove of Chicago, Illinois; sisters-in-law Geraldine Davis, Ellen (Jan) Warren, Linda Hodges, and Phyllis Bell; twenty grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
