Carolyn Tyler Hogan was born in Sheffield, Alabama, to the parentage of George Shelton and Mary Louise Tyler, who preceded her in death. She had a sister, Marilyn Goodwin, and a brother, Bruce Shelton, who also preceded her in death.
On September 2, 2018, Carolyn departed this life and is now with Jesus Christ whom she accepted as her Savior at a very early age. She joined First Missionary Baptist Church and later joined Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.
Carolyn received her education in the Sheffield City School System. She attended and graduated from Sterling High School. She was a proud member of the alumni and celebrated many reunions. She lived most of her life in Sheffield, Alabama. She moved to Waukegan, Illinois, for a few years but returned to this area and lived here for over 30 years.
She met and married Charlie Hogan 28 years ago, and they lived in Tuscumbia, Alabama, ever since.
Her last employment was with the Tuscumbia Police Department until she retired a few years ago. She was a happy retiree until her death.
Carolyn leaves to cherish her memories: a loving husband, Charlie Hogan of Tuscumbia, Alabama; four sisters, Ms. Helen Tyler (Thurman) of Waukegan, Illinois, Ms. Sandra Goodwin Hickman (Russell) of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, Ms. Betty Nesmith of Athens, Tennessee and Ms. Diane Little of Oakland, California; a brother, John Goodson, Jr. of Waukegan, Illinois; three sisters-in-law, Julia M. Smith (Paul), Louise Flint and Mary E. Johnson (Robert), all of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; one brother-in-law, Richard Hogan of Tuscumbia, Alabama; aunts, Ms. Betty Freeman and Ms. Rosie Lewis, both of Sheffield, Alabama, Patty Mae King of Leighton, Alabama, Emma Stewart of Rochester, New York and Clara Berry of Rock Island, Illinois; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other family
