Obituary

Mrs. Carrie L. Mitchell was born on July 22, 1925, in Selma, AL. She was born to the union of Charles and Minnie Crenshaw. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Emmitt, Eugene, Calvin (her twin) Crenshaw, and sisters Angeline Ford and Irene Simmons.

After moving to Florence, AL, Carrie attended Slater School and later in life united with Harrison Mitchell in 1946, which he preceded her in death. They were the parents of five loving children: Clifford Crenshaw, Alicia Young, Brenton Mitchell, Jason Mitchell, and Jerrell Mitchell. Carrie and Harrison lived a life of love for 61 years. She was a dedicated homemaker and worked in diverse areas of occupations throughout her life.

Carrie loved God and confessed her faith at an early age and united with St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Florence, AL.

Carrie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her loved ones. She was affectionately referenced by several treasured names such as "Sister, Ma, Momma, Mrs. Carrie, and Mother Mitchell."

Over the years, Carrie developed a love for traveling, shopping, and making sure that she was an all-around well groomed fashionista. She truly enjoyed spending time in the company of her family, friends, and church body. Carrie was a Charter Member of Alpha Pi Chi

Sorority, Charter Member of The Concern Friends Club, and The Traveling Club, as well as  other various social clubs; however, most of all, she was truly committed to church ministries such as Sunday school, Bible Study, singing with the choir, and Missionary Society. Carrie was a loyal advocate for the American Heart Association, "Go Red for Women Campaign."

Left to cherish her memories is one devoted daughter: Alicia (Joe) Young, Florence, AL; and four devoted sons: Clifford (Ellen) Crenshaw, Florence, AL; Brenton (Mollie) Mitchell, Killen, AL; Jason (Paula) Mitchell, Birmingham, AL; and Jerrell (Antoinette) Mitchell, Hazel Green, AL; 17 grandchildren: Rev.
