Mrs. Cleo Buckner was born on June 30, 1928 in Athens, Alabama to the late Grover Cleveland and Martha Jane Farrar. She departed this life on Thursday, April 2, 2015. She was one of twelve children. She was preceded in death by eleven siblings, a loving husband of 35 years, Ahaz Buckner, one daughter, Clarissa Buckner, and a son ,James Smith. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined the Poplar Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her health failed. She was a musician for various churches in the area, as well as a song leader for years for the Muscle Shoals Missionary Baptist Association BTU Congress. Cleo's hobbies gave her tremendous pleasure. Her hobbies included fishing, cooking, sewing, and sports - especially cheering for the Atlanta Braves. She was also well known as a loving and faithful caregiver in the area. She was a compassionate and loveable person. Cleo's greatest joys came when she spent time with her children and grandchildren, whether it was in a family setting or on the phone. She leaves to cherish fond memories; four sons, Charles(Myra) Smith, Rayford Smith, Emmanuel "Knocky"( Rhoda) Buckner, and Joe Buckner, six daughters; Paulett(Willie) Golston, Benetia(Jerry) Groce, Anethia Coffey, Marilyn(Anthony) White, Zelda"Dedee"Carson and Dera(Tony)Richardson, one brother; Herman(Thera)Farrar, one sister-in-law Louise Farrar, forty grandchildren; forty-eight great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, a special niece; Cozie Maxwell, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
