On April 11, 1955, a beautiful big-eyed girl was born to the late James Issac and Elva

Mae Ray. Her name, Deborah Ann, soon became Baby Ann or Bae Ann because her

older brother, James Wayne, could not pronounce her name. Deborah would later be

called Polly by her friends at Cherokee High School. She departed this life peacefully on

Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at her residence in Jacksonville, Florida.

Deborah confessed Christ at an early age and joined Nazareth Primitive Baptist Church,

Barton, Alabama. Pastor Robert Smith. She was a retiree of Reynolds Metal Company

Muscle Shoals, and Alcoa Metal Company Knoxville, Tennessee.

In addition to her two older sisters, Jewel (Thomas) and Juanita (dec.), she and Wayne were

joined by another sister, Linda Ray Cain (Stephen), and four brothers, Rowell Winston

Ray (dec.), Gregory Keith Ray (dec.), Derrick Issac Qualls, and Anthony Qualls (dec.).

Deborah gifted the world with two wonderful children: Artura Pernell Mitchell (Sabrina)

and Rosheka Mitchell Franklin (Mark). Of these two, there are six grandchildren: Megan

Mitchell, Raven Mitchell, T.J. Harris, Trey Washington, Aaliyah Washington, and Romeo

Washington. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren.

From Deborah's loving, caring husband, Darren Sadler, she gained three bonus children:

Pervis Sadler, Chansey Sadler and Darren Sadler, Jr., and eight additional grandchildren.

Darren also brought to the marriage two wonderful sisters-in-love, Trecia Rhodes and

Oona McDaniel.
