Diann Coffey
Hawkins
Nov 10, 1947 — Jan 24, 2026
Leighton
Diann Coffey Hawkins
was born November 10, 1947, to the late Malon "Jack" Coffey and Lydia
Mae Coffey in Leighton, Alabama. Diann departed this life Saturday,
January 24, 2026, at her home surrounded by her three loving sons and
granddaughter.
She confessed Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and joined
Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and after marriage, moved her
membership to Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church, where she
remained a very faithful and dedicated member until her health prevented
her from attending every Sunday.
Diann was a 1966 graduate of Leighton Training School, where she was a
member of the marching band.
She was retired from the Colbert County School System where she served
several years as a school nutritionist. Prior to entering the school system,
she was a loving homemaker caring for her husband and children.
For many years Diann served in the choir, as secretary of the Sunday School,
Mother of the Church, as a member of the Matrons, Sunbeam Advisor, and
kitchen coordinator at Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church. She was a
member of Condolence Chapter No. 85 Order of Eastern Star, a subordinate
of the Mizpah Grand Chapter of Alabama Order of Eastern Star.
Diann was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Parker Lee Hawkins on
June 30, 1967. From this union, three children were born. She was a loving
wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was a spectacular cook, baker, and seamstress. She enjoyed cooking for
family and friends as well as sewing outfits for her husband, children, as
well as herself. She also loved arts and crafts.
Diann was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-three years,
Parker Lee Hawkins; parents, Malon "Jack" and Lydia Mae Coffey;
grandparents, Ben and Elnora Williams; one sister, Faye Mayberry; and one
brother, Dexter Coffey.
