Donald (Don) Eugene Jackson Sr., entered this life on December 13, 1949. He was born to the late Hilton Jackson, Sr., and Emma Jackson Savage. Don departed his earthly home on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Helen Keller Hospital.
In addition to his parents, He is also preceded in death by his son, Carlos Jackson; brothers, Hilton Jackson, Jr., and Henry Jackson; sister, Roberta Cunningham; first wife, Sarah Jackson; and in - laws, S.T. Thirkill and Irene Thirkill.
Don attended Sterling Highschool, Trenholm High School, and later received a GED. He confessed to Christ at an early age and united later with Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Clifford Mayes. He was then ordained as deacon under the leadership of Reverend Ronald Thompson. His commitment to serve the Lord and others was clear in his dedication to the Van Ministry and the Brotherhood of Laymen's Movement. Don worked 34 years at NAFCO/Tarkett Tile - Florence, Alabama.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Thirkill Jackson; three sons, Donald Jackson, Jr. (Brandi), Brian Jackson (Yashica), and Derrick Barber (Equilla); two daughters, Lacey Barber and Ashley Barber (Marvin); 20 grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren; eight sisters, Ruby Pearl Lewis, Barbara Sims (Kent), Lula Thompson (Darryl), Rebecca Goodloe, Lashon Jackson, Marsha Davidson, Vernell Savage; nine brothers, Wilmer Jackson, Arthur Jackson, Christopher Jackson, Terry Jackson, Willie Abernathy, Bradley Jackson, Terrell Savage, Gerald Savage (Demetria), and Tori Barnett; one sister- in - law, Joan Jackson; uncles and aunts, Willie Hampton (Margo), Charles Cooper (Morris), Walter Jackson (Alene), McCoy Jackson (Gladys), and Avis Welch; one great aunt, Lizzie Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and many friends.
