Dorothy Jean
Butler Anderson
Dec 21, 1938 — Jul 1, 2020
College Park
Dorothy Jean (Butler) Anderson was born December 21, 1938, to the late Jack Butler and Easter (Duckett) Eckerson in Florence, Alabama. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Shenna (Robin) Stovall, Janet (James) Bailey, and Elbert Ladarrel (Tomeka) Anderson; grandchildren, Orlando, Roshekia, Ravin, Darriel, Jannel, Micah, Kendall, and Denzel; great-grandchildren, Ra'miyah, Jordan, and Madden; sister-in-law, Mrs. Gladys Young; brothers and sister, Jerry and James Eckerson and Gloria Hall; nieces and nephews; devoted friends and other family; "special love", Kendall and Callie Jordan, her best and loveable right hand.
Dorothy was deeply loved, and cared and provided for her children and family. Her heart will be forever with her true love, Elbert O. Anderson. They were married for 54 years. She is the epitome of grace, black beauty, and strength. She proudly passed these qualities on to her children. Dorothy and Elbert were like peanut butter and jelly together. She was a lady of essence and strength. She enjoyed talking with others. She was very proud of her family and crazy about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and showing photos of her husband. She was Grandma to all of us, Granny to everyone who met her, and Sister to her family members. She loved to tease her son and daughter-in-law. She was known as "Mrs. Anderson". She was a member of St. James Baptist Church of Florence, Alabama, and a member of Wood Memorial Church in College Park, Georgia.
She was a graduate of Burrell Slater School. She worked as a professional hair stylist and employee of K-Mart in Florence, Alabama, and a pharmacy clerk with K-Mart in Georgia.
