On Friday, July 5, 2019, Dorothy Marie Hailstock ,

loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 82.

Dorothy was born on February 9, 1937, in Tuscumbia,

Alabama. She was one of ten children born to Mary Ellen

and Harry Long. Dorothy left for Chicago when she was

twenty years old, where she held a career at Wrigley's, until

retirement. During this time, she simultaneously went

to school and received several certifications while raising

her son, Thaddeus Long. Dorothy returned back home

after retirement, where she then met her husband, Harold

Hailstock, whom she wed on August 3, 2011.

Dorothy enjoyed expressing herself through crocheting

and sewing. She found happiness from gifting her creations

to her loved ones. Dorothy lived her life with an open

mind, always looking for new subjects to learn and gain

experiences from. There was nothing more relaxing to her

than spending her days canning homegrown fruits and

vegetables with her husband, Harold. Dorothy gained an

immense amount of joy from spending time with her family,

particularly her son and two granddaughters, Olivia Long

and Leah Long. She is known for her compassion, integrity,

and playful sense of humor. There is no smile, hug, or laugh

that was more infectious. She approached everything in life

with positivity and love.

She leaves behind her husband, Harold Hailstock; her son,

Thaddeus Long; her two granddaughters, Leah Long and

Olivia Long; her two sisters, Mary Ellen Blackamore and

Pearl Nunery; and host of nieces, nephews, other family

and friends.
