Eriah Stewart, Jr., was born to the late Eriah and Carrie Stewart. He was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Eriah confessed his faith to Islam. He moved to Florence, Alabama, at a young age. He attended W. C. Handy School and Coffee High School. Eriah also loved spending time with family, watching sports, and listening to music. Jazz and blues were his favorites. He always gave a good word of advice and was a great listener.
Eriah retired from two corporation, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and Bortz Health Care, after dedicating 30 years of faithful service between the two. Eriah was an outstanding son, brother, dad, grandfather, cousin, and dependable friend. Eriah was an outspoken, driven, and highly motivated hardworking man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Eriah and Carrie B. Stewart; grandson, Kaiser Stewart; brothers, Chester Lee Stewart, Emmerson Stewart, Billy Ray (Wank) Asher, and Michael (Mike) Howard of Florence, Alabama; sisters, Detra Barnett of Alabama and Julia Stewart of Ypsilanti, Michigan; and a host of cousins, uncles, and aunts.
Eriah was a man of great wisdom and was trustworthy to family and friends. You could tell him anything, and it stayed with him.
Eriah leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Michelle; daughter, Maryia Stewart of Belleville, Michigan; three sons, Deon (Katrina) of Canton, Eriah Stewart III, and Davon Stewart of Ypsilanti, Michigan; sisters, Gwendolyn (Robert) Thompson, Chery (James) Smith of Alabama, Sheila (Jeff) Andrew, Areletta Stewart of Florence, Alabama, and Cynthia Williams of Ypsilanti, Michigan; grandkids, Tyrek Grisham, Kentasan Mitchell, Maitajia Stewart, Zhenearia Gardner, and Martez Gardner, Sr., all of Ypsilanti, Michigan; one great-grandchild, Kain Stewart; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
