“I, FRANK HOOKS, JR., was born November 12, 1951, in Sheffield, Alabama to the late Frank Hooks, Sr., and Margarette Davis Hooks. I accepted Christ at the age of 13 at First Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Yarborough. I am a proud Bulldog! I attended Sterling High School and graduated from Sheffield High School in 1970. Go Bulldogs! My big sister Gwen left home upon graduating, leaving me here all torn up. But my mom was still here so I felt like The Big Dog in the house for a while. But right after graduating, in 1970, I left for Chicago to be with Gwen and my father Frank, Sr. I got a job at Columbia Steel Company. In 1971, I moved to New Jersey with my cousin Oscar Hooks and Aunt Georgia. Oh, what a move it was! That following year on June 22, 1972 I was hired at the Ford Motor Company, where I remained until I retired after 35 and a half years. Looking back, in 1974, on July 10, God blessed me with my first bundle of joy when Tyrone Hooks was born; then again on June 16, 1976 when my baby girl, and second bundle of joy was born, Tanyana. Now moving right along, my third bundle of joy, Frank Hooks III was born on April 3, 1984, and ohhh, last but not least, my joy kept coming and my baby boy, Brandon Hooks, was born on March 8, 1987. These are my 3+1, I love them with all my heart and together they have made me a proud grandpa, better known as PaPa Bear. My loving wife Carrie is MaMa Bear. Tyriek, Ayana, Brianna, Brandon (Deuce) Hooks (deceased), Landon, Lennox, Savannah, Keyana, Ashley, and Jaquan, PaPa Bear loves you all. Now 25 years ago, I met the love of my life, Mrs. Carrie Thompson Hooks. We are best friends and are affectionately called Bonnie and Clyde (but we don’t rob no banks). Others call my wife “Mrs. Frank” all MEMORIES in fun. Together we are like two peas in a pod, because you rarely see one without the other. Lastly after retirement, I moved back to North Alabama to be closer to my mother and so that my wife would be closer to her Mother as well. I reunited with First Missionary Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until I became ill in 2025. GOD has been good to me!” PRECIOUS Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice.
