Mrs. Geneva M. Turner was born on April 14, 1927, to the late Mr. Alex and Mrs. Louise Williams of Florence, Alabama. She made her transition to eternal life on Friday, June 3, 2016. Mother Turner was twelfth of thirteen children, twelve of whom preceded her in death. She accepted Christ at 12 years of age, and joined Bethel Lauderdale Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend P.W. Whitfield. She joined First Missionary Baptist Church of Florence in 1983, and faithfully served there as President of the Mothers Board until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Alex and Louise Williams; grandson: Parunta O. Turner; and brothers and sisters.
Geneva retired from Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital as a Food Service Supervisor after 35 years of service.
Mother Turner leaves the following to cherish her memories: five sons: Henry L. (Angela) Turner, of Birmingham, Alabama, Reverend Arther L. (Rosie) Turner, of Florence, Alabama, Ludie G. ( Millie) Turner Jr., of Florence, Alabama, Larry D. (Andrea) Turner, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Cedric I. Turner, of Florence, Alabama, two daughters, Shirley L. (Willis) Thompson, of Muscle Shoals, Aretha T. Smith, of Killen, Alabama, 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and friends; devoted son-in-law: David S. Smith, of Tuscumbia, Alabama, loving family friends: James (Faye) Jackson and Zachary (Sophia) Hart; and devoted care-takers: Patricia Johnson, Gentiva Hospice and Oxford Health Care.
