George Lee
Rowell
Jun 20, 1958 — Aug 15, 2020
Florence
GEORGE LEE ROWELL was born June 20 or 22, 1958, to the late
Bashie Rowell and George Jones.
George departed this life on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Helen Keller
Hospital.
George attended Central High School and was a member of the New Rock
Church of God in Christ. He was also employed at Nafco/Tarkett for 42
years. George never met a stranger. He was a friend to all who knew him.
George lived his life to the fullest doing what he enjoyed most: spending
time with his family and siblings, traveling, going to his grandkids ballgames,
being their number one supporter, making his "Bashie's Boy" preserves (pear
honey, pear butter, squash pickle, and cha-cha), going to Tennessee to get
his scratch offs and buying his lottery tickets, and kayaking with Talia and
Jala. You never saw him when there wasn't a smile on his face. There was
guaranteed to be a good time laughing, dancing, and taking pictures when
George was around. The apple of his eye were his son Craig and his daughter
Hope or "Hopie," as he would sometimes call her. He would drop and do
anything for his children, no matter what it was or what they wanted.
George was preceded in death by his mother, Bashie Rowell; father, George
Jones; sisters, Patricia Ann Rowell, Mary Etta Rowell, and Lola Faye Vaughn;
brothers, Ulysses James Rowell, Dennis Odell Rowell, Frank Rowell, Larry
Rowell, and Jake Rowell; father and mother-in-law, William and Lanie
Johnson; and a host of aunts and uncles.
George leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife of 36 years,
Minnie Johnson Rowell of Florence, Alabama; children, Craig and Hope
(Lerickus) Rowell both of Florence, Alabama; five granddaughters, Talia, and
Tameria both of Florence, Alabama, Zy'Lee of Mississippi, and Skylar, and
Azariah both of Florence, Alabama; three grandsons, Lerickus "William,"
Hayden and Craig, Jr., "CJ" both of Florence, Alabama; four brothers,
Alexander (Diane) Rowell, Trent Rowell, and Henderson (Kristie) Rowell
