Gwendolyn Faye Mitchell was born on October 27, 1950 to the late William H. Mitchell and Margaret G. Mitchell of Florence, Alabama. She went home to be with her heavenly Father on April 29, 2016.
Gwen confessed a hope in Christ and joined Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she served as a devoted member until her health stared to fail. Gwen loved singing in the choir, cooking, and baking.
Gwen was preceded in death by her parents.
Gwen was a graduate of Burrell Slater High School, where she was a member of the high school band.
Gwen worked for the Florence School System for many years. She worked for Ford Motor Company until it closed. She retired from Delphi Saginaw Steering Gear in the year 2000.
She leaves to cherish her memory: fiancé, Mr. Robert Penchion, Town Creek, Alabama; one daughter, Mrs. Shaholonie (Byron) Newsome, Loss Angeles, California; one son, Mr. Timothy (Tyanesha) Anderson, Killen Alabama; two sisters, Mrs. Vera Crittenton, Layton, Utah and Ms. Essie Mitchell, Florence, Alabama; three grandchildren, Ms. Whitney Anderson, Florence, Alabama, Ms. Jasmine Anderson, Killen, Alabama, and Ms. Jada Anderson, Killen, Alabama; one great-grandchild, Mr. Jaylen Anderson, Florence, Alabama; three aunts, Mrs. Madgie Minor, Florence, Alabama, Ms. Jessiphine Walker, Florence, Alabama and Ms. Martha Smith, Florence, Alabama; one uncle, Mr. Charles Smith, Chicago, Illinois; devoted nephew , Mr. Erric Brewer, Florence, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
