Mrs. Helen Ruth (Winborn) Summerhill was born
on March 14, 1938, to the late Mr. Willie and Mrs. Mary Alice (Cole)
Winborn. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mamie L. Cherry; two
brothers, Lee Andrew "Skip" Johnson and Willie "Buck" Winborn, both
of Florence, Alabama; two sons, Anthony L. Summerhill and Leonard Ray
Summerhill; and daughter, Brenda (Gary) Barnett.
Helen gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined Galilee Missionary
Baptist Church in Florence, Alabama. She later moved her membership
to Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as the church
secretary for over 40 years. She was employed with the National Linen
Service for 42 years until she retired.
Helen was united in holy matrimony to Jerry "JB" Summerhill, Sr., who
preceded her in death.
On Tuesday, February 17, 2021, Helen Ruth Winborn Summerhill
peacefully departed this mortal life at Shoals Hospital, Muscle Shoals,
Alabama.
Helen is survived by two sisters, Henry Alice (Eugene) Jackson of Lima,
Ohio, and Dorothy Winborn of Buffalo, New York; son, Jerry Bill (Pamela)
Summerhill, Jr., of Killeen, Texas; two daughters, Vivian Ann Long of
Lima, Ohio, and Bridget D. Summerhill of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; sister
in-law, Martha Johnson of Florence, Alabama; three brothers-in-law, Felix
Summerhill, Tom Summerhill, and Harvey Summerhill, all of Florence,
Alabama; aunt, Louise Thompson of Florence, Alabama; a loving,
lifetime friend, Julia Belk Walker Barnett; and a host of nieces, nephews,
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
