Herman Watkins Sr. was born April 19, 1942 to the late Frank Sr. and Clara Welch Watkins. He departed this life on Friday, October 2, 2020 at home in Florence, Alabama.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Personal Savior and joined Bailey Springs A.M.E Church in Florence, Alabama. Where he was a faithful member. He served as a Steward, Usher, Treasurer of the Finance Committee, Kitchen Committee, and Van Driver.

Herman graduated from Saginaw High School and joined the United States Army upon graduation. He made a career in the military and retired after 24 years as a Master Sergeant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 54 years (Dyona) and five brothers (Roy Lee Watkins, A.J. Watkins, Willie Lewis Watkins, Eddie Lee Watkins and Frank Watkins Jr.)

Herman Leaves to cherish his memories two sons: Herman Watkins Jr. (the late Yvette Watkins) and Howard Watkins (Sheenia) both of Florence, Alabama; three daughters: Regina Watkins (Courtney) and an adopted daughter Hailey Watkins both of Florence, Alabama: Jessica Pruitt (David) of Elizabeth Town, Kentucky; one brother: Eugene Watkins of Florence, Alabama; three sisters: Nellie Bozer, Minnie Watkins, and Rosie Watkins of Saginaw, Michigan; two brother in laws: Lawyer Brown Sr. of Madison, Alabama and Glenn Ray Brown of Florence, Alabama; two sister in laws: Jacklyn Barnett and Francine McDaniel of Florence, Alabama; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
