Bro. Jacky Ray Summerhill was born July 5, 1967 in Florence, Alabama. Ray accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Thomas Fuqua.

Ray was a faithful member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church and a dedicated musician to several gospel singing groups in the community. Ray was a friend to everyone. Ray had a heart of love for all his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Ray is preceded in death by his mother, Mattie B. Summerhill; three brothers, Reginald, Marcus, and Felix Summerhill, Jr; and one sister, Marsha Jackson.

Ray leaves to cherish his memories: a loving father, Felix H. Summerhill, Sr., of Florence, Alabama; five brothers, Robert (Dorothy) Summerhill of Russellville, Alabama, Orlandus Summerhill of Florence, Alabama, Jeffrey (Pippa) Summerhill of Harvest, Alabama, Vance Summerhill of Florence, Alabama, and Lance Summerhill of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; special nephew; Jarasha Jackson of Florence, Alabama; five sisters, Miranda Summerhill, Fay (Ricky) Bowens, Sharon Freeman, Alicia Armstead, and Michelle (Royce) McCrosk, all from Florence, Alabama; seven uncles, Harvey Summerhill, Tom (Shula) Summerhill, Robert (Caroline) Roach, and Clarence (Doris) Roach, all from Florence, Alabama, and Oscar (Emma) Roach and Fredrick (Linda) Roach from Killen, Alabama; two aunts, Helen Summer and Lois Roach from Florence, Alabama; a special uncle, LeRoy (Georgia) Fuqua of Huntsville, Alabama; a special aunt, Bertha Brown of Florence, Alabama, and Bertha Fuqua of Montgomery, Alabama; thirty-seven nieces and nephews; and thirty great-nieces and nephews.
