Janice Faye Jones Butler was the fourth child of seven born to James and Marie Jones Sr., on August 13, 1957, in Tuscumbia, Alabama.
Holding on to her mustard seed, she departed her earthly home for her heavenly home on March 16, 2017, at the age of 59 years, with family by her side.
She confessed her lift to God at an early age and joined Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Sheffield, Alabama, under the leadership of Pastor Willie Little. She later joined Eleven Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Florence, Alabama, under the leadership of Pastor William Smith, where she was an active member of the choir and a Sunday School Teacher until her death.
She attended Tuscumbia City School, and she loved the game of softball, planting flowers, working in her garden, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
Janice always believed in hard work. "Nothing in life is free," she would always say. "Work for what you want; you will appreciate it later."
She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Oh, how she loved riding around in the truck with Johnny and her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Jones Sr.; mother, Marie Jones; sister, Gerniece Goodloe; nephew, Jermane Koger; and great-niece, Riylee Hardin.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of twenty years, Johnny Butler Sr.; two daughters, Latinna Turner and Jacqueline Jackson, both of Florence, Alabama; two stepsons, Jamie ( Tasha) Byrd, of Florence, Alabama, and Johnny (Chrissy) Butler Jr., of Dallas, Texas; two brother, James (Josephine) Jones Jr., of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Richard (Rejetta) Jones, of Loganville, Georgia; three sisters, Barbara Pride of Cherokee, Alabama, Shannon Koger , and Glenda Sue (Gary) Rhodes, both of Florence, Alabama; brother -in-law, Charles (Julie) Butler of Florence, Alabama, sister-in-law, Ettie Butler of Florence, Alabama and Debrah Butler of Chicago, Illinois; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
