Jessie O'Neal Smith was born on February 1,
1954, to Mary Frances Smith-Whiteside. He peacefully
departed life on May 9, 2023, in Florence, Alabama after
a brief illness.

He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mount Zion
AME Church (Hawkins Creek).
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Beronica
Yates, mother, Mary Frances Whiteside and brother,
Hillard Smith.

Jessie leaves to cherish his memories: Sallie Smith, four
daughters, Consuella (Jamar) Hargress, Jessica Smith,
Pamela Yates and Wanda Yates, two sons, Daniel Yates
and Michael Yates, two brothers, Devon "Rabbit"
Whiteside and Sammie Bates, three sisters, Fannie Mae
Harmon, Vickie Whiteside and Dorothy (Craig)
Whiteside, aunt, Jacquelyn Moore, foster sisters, Doris
Madde (Patrick), Marylin Ayodele, LaShawna Malone
and Linda King, devoted friends, James Howard and
Larry Bailey and a host of grandchildren, great
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives
and friends.
