John Hicks' Obituary
John "Bud" Hicks was born October 2, 1918 to the late Hillard and Sally B. Hicks in Athens, Alabama. He departed this life Sunday, May 15, 2016. He reached the age of 97 years old.
He confessed hope in Christ at Poplar Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories: His wife of 60 plus years Fannie Mae Hicks, daughters; Suzy Malone, Johnny Mae Hicks, Shelia Malone and Helen (Charles) Forbes and son; Frank Derrick. He leaves one sister; Rora Malone; brother-in-law Floyd Wilson and sister-in-law Matilida Smith. Along with 21 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Walter Lee Hicks, also four sisters and three brothers.
He loved spending time with family and friends. He retired as a farmer.
