Obituary

KATIE PEARL COLE HILL was born May 22,
1934, in Florence, Alabama, to the late
Pearl Reeder Edwards and the late Percy
Cole.
She departed this life on April 10, 2021,
at her daughter's home, surrounded by
children and grandchildren.

Katie served God faithfully by singing
in church choirs as she walked by faith,
growing up in St. Paul in Florence. She
later moved and began growing in God
at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church
in Sheffield with the late Pastor Clifford
Mayes. Calvary was her church home for
some years before experiencing a few more
churches. She finally made her last church
home, Free Spirit, with the late Pastor
William Freeman, who she loved and
adored, as well as the Freeman family and
other church members.

When her health began to fail, she moved to
Madison, Alabama, with her daughter and
son-in-law. She often visited their church
with them, enjoying it and winning friends with her sweet spirit.

She worked at local hospitals in dietary for years,
including ECM and Colbert County, which later
became Helen Keller. There, she won many hearts
belonging to those who became lifelong friends.

Our dear, sweet, precious mother, sometimes called
"KP," had touched the lives of so many with her
sweet, sweet spirit. She was loved by many and will
definitely be missed by many.

Katie leaves to cherish her memory: six daughters,
Sharon Lynn (the late Sammie) Miller, Gayzell
(James) Pride, and Cardelia (Kenishia) Brown,
all of Tuscumbia, Annie Ramson, and Ericka
Robinson, both of Florence, and Yolanda (James)
Wright of Madison; one son, Percy Harvey (Alice)
Jones of Florence; grandchildren, Berlinetta
aka Pooh, SheKayla, Melvin, Melissa, Maurice,
Isaac, Detavious, Roxanne, BJ, Beyonka, Mirika,
John Henry, Terrance, Tiara, Taneshia, Tyrekia,
Dominicia, Rynikkia, Donald, Jr., aka DonDon,
Sherita, Trederick, Denise, and Michael, all of
who loved her dearly; 29 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; a loving niece, Margaret
Alexander of Madison, Alabama; and a host of
loving in-laws in Russellville who always loved her
as a sister and aunt, and many cousins and friends who she loved and they loved her.
