There are many things in life that we cannot understand, but we must trust God's judgment and be guided by his hand. All who have God's blessings can rest safely in his care for he promises us "safe passage on the wings of faith and prayer."

Mr. Larry Donnell Swinney was born January 26, 1956, to the late Ms. Mattie Elizabeth Smith and Mr. Walter Swinney, Jr. of Florence, Alabama. Mr. Swinney departed this life on April 28, 2021, at the Cottage of the Shoals with his family by his side.

He attended Burrell Slater High School and worked for over 20 years as a custodian at the University of North Alabama.

He was preceded in death by one sister Ms. Shirley Smith Swinney and four brothers: Mr. Billy Young, Mr. Rea Smith, Mr. James Edward Swinney, and Mr. Johnny Smith, Two aunts: Ms. Lizzie Mae Hill and Ms. Eva Caldwell.

Mr. Swinney was a True Believer in the lord.

He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters: Ms. Makaila Swinney and Ms. Blessin Swinney of Florence. One Son: Mr. Julian Smith also of Florence. One step-daughter Ms. Tyrecca Thompson of Florence. Two Grandchildren ZaRyeah Stover and Kyngstin Stover. One Brother: Mr. Frank Clyde Smith of Florence.
