Leawaiia
Little
Jan 9, 1954 — Jan 25, 2026
Florence
Leawaiia Denise Little, age 72, peacefully departed this life on January 25, 2026, at Crestwood Hospital,
Huntsville, Alabama. She was born in Colbert County on January 9, 1954, to the late James and Mary Magdalene
Little.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her brothers, Robert James Little and Bobby Travis Little, Sr.;
her treasured best friend, Dwight L. Winston; and other special relatives.
Leawaiia accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Tuscumbia, Alabama.
Following its relocation, she joined First Missionary Baptist Church in Tuscumbia. For the past 34 years, she was
a faithful member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Leighton, Alabama, where she served devotedly until
her health declined.
She received her early education at Trenholm High School. When the school closed, she transferred to Deshler
High School, where she graduated in 1972. While at Deshler, she was an active student leader, serving as Secretary
of the Library Club in 1971 and participating in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). She later attended
the University of North Alabama.
Known for her keen intellect and exceptional administrative skills, she excelled in shorthand and typing. She
enjoyed a successful administrative career with the University of North Alabama, Yellow Creek Nuclear Power
Plant, and Champion Paper Company, culminating in her final role as administrative assistant to the general
manager at Sara Lee Foods, from which she retired.
Family time was her greatest joy, especially traveling with her cherished "Fab 5," sons-in-love, grandmunchkins,
princesses, and princes. Growing up with such a large, close family, she looked forward to family gatherings on
holidays or ones created 'just because'. Family was the center of her world, and she instilled in her loved ones the
importance of loyalty, love, and togetherness.
Entrepreneurial by nature, she was the proud owner of Lea's Creations. Her creativity shined through her love for
cooking, baking, decorating, dancing, shopping, and singing.
Leawaiia was gifted with an angelic voice—singing was as natural to her as breathing. She sang backup for
renowned artists such as Z.Z. Hill and singer/songwriter Prince Phillip Mitchell. She also lent her voice to
hundreds of weddings, often alongside the Maestro, the late Dwight L. Winston. As a decorator, her talented
hands transformed countless weddings, events, and homes into spaces of beauty and elegance.
In February 2007, she was diagnosed with Stage IV pharyngeal cancer, with a prognosis that offered little hope.
Anchored by unwavering faith, she defied the odds. For 19 remarkable years, she not only survived but lived fully
and purposefully. Though aggressive radiation left her unable to eat or swallow—requiring nourishment through
a PEG tube—she never relinquished her passion for cooking. Without being able to taste, she continued to prepare
delicious, comforting meals for her family, finding pride, peace, and fulfillment in serving them and others.
She was dedicated to her community. From their inception, she served on the Trenholm High School Reunion
Executive Committee and Pink Alabama.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful legacy, her children: Alesha Little (Jai Triplett) of Cherokee, Alabama,
LaShonda M. Davidson (Pastor Green Davidson IV) of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Jamie Hogan (Demetrius
Hogan) of Madison, Alabama, Eric Little of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and Danielle Little of Tuscumbia, Alabama;
grandchildren, Kasie Davidson, Jalen Triplett, Green "Buddy" Davidson V (Brianna Davidson), Jeremy Hogan
(Taylor Boyd), Jasha Triplett (Colby Thompson), Rachel Davidson, Justin Hogan, and Jaleigh Little; great
grandchildren, Kamrynn Davidson, Brailynn Winston, Kailynn Winston, K'Miyah Davidson, Green "Nemo"
Davidson VI, and Ezra Triplett. She is also survived by one niece, Tonya Little; one nephew, Bobby Little, Jr.; one
sister-in-law, Patricia Little; one uncle, Arthur Wade; two aunts, Millie Owens and Dorothy Little; special cousins,
Tracy Owens, Zimbalist Sledge, and Alesia Morris; her sister-friend, Minnie Madden Smith; special close friends,
Trenholm High School class of 1972, Beverly Winston, and Barbara Davidson; and a host of other relatives and
friends.
Leawaiia's life was a testament to faith, resilience, love, and service. Her voice, her strength, and her legacy will
forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
