Lillian L.
Thompson
Mar 31, 1923 — Jan 24, 2024
Florence
Grace Memorial Funeral Home announces with deepest sympathy the passing of Lillian L. Thompson, 100, of Florence.
Mrs. Thompson passed away on Wednesday January 24, 2024.
Mother Lillian L. (Brown) Thompson, was born March 31,1923, in Lauderdale County, Alabama, to the late Robert and Matilda Mason Brown. She departed this life on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at her residence. She was the ninth child of her ten siblings, and now the link is complete.
On February 27, 1943. Lillian was united in marriage to Joseph L. Thompson, who preceded her in death. To that union, six children were born, four of whom preceded her in death, Billy Ray Thompson, Abe Brown, John Thompson, and Annie Lee Thompson.
Mother Thompson confessed Christ at an early age at Bethel Lauderdale M. B. Church where she remained faithful until her death. She was a servant for the Lord as she served on the Mother's Board, sang in the choir, and served in the Missionary Society.
Her kind, sweet spirit was always present with a big smile. She worked in housekeeping at Mitchell Hollingsworth and Eliza Coffee Memorial for over sixty years before retiring.
Later, she became a nanny for Dr. John Musgrove and family for six years. During her labor, she enjoyed laughing and talking on the phone, singing, quilting, gardening, canning, and cooking. Many referred to her as "Ma Bae," "Aunt Bae," and "Grandma Bae."
She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Paul L. Thompson; one daughter, Christine (Ricky) Doxie; twelve grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Jessie Ruth Brown, nieces, and nephews.
A special thanks to Billy Ray Thompson, CheroKetia Swinney, Renae Hollingsworth, Willie and Karen Brown, Madgie Nelson, Curtis Jackson, Albert (Gee) Noel, Lana Brown, and Dorthy Phillips with Amedisys Hospice Care.
