Obituary

Lucius Lee Williams III, cherished son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 11, 2023,
at the age of 33. Lee, as he was called by his family, was born in

Oxford, Mississippi, on August 1, 1990, the first born to Mr. Lucius Daryl and Mrs. Joan J. Williams.

Lee accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Moriah
P.B. Church in Florence, Alabama, where he was an active member of the
Youth Ministry, Youth Choir, Children's Church Helper, member of the
church basketball team, and Youth Summer Camp Helper.
After transferring from Florence High School, Lee graduated from
Mars Hill Bible School where he was on the award-winning baseball and
basketball teams. He started his undergraduate studies at the University
of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and was a member and Pledge Class President
of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. He later transferred to the University of
North Alabama (UNA) where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in
Political Science with a minor in Business Administration. At UNA he
was the treasurer of Model United Nations Club.

After college, Lee relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, and worked for
several technology and telecommunication firms. Lee also had a passion
for investment trading. He loved watching the financial markets and
giving investment advice.

Lee was an avid sportsman. He started at the age of four playing T-Ball
and never stopped loving sports. He played baseball from elementary
school through high school, when he and his team at Mars Hill Bible
School went to state finals. He played football in elementary and middle
school. However, basketball was his favorite. He played basketball from
elementary through high school, including leading the church basketball
team to win the recreation league championship twice. He continued to
play basketball as an adult at the YMCA. His second favorite sport was
golf, which he started playing in elementary school and kept playing
through adulthood. He just recently went to Monterey, California, where
he had the opportunity to play golf at the famous Pebble Beach Links,
where he almost hit a hole-in-one on the 16th hole; he was so excited. His
favorite teams were the Ole Miss Rebels and the Atlanta Braves.

While in Nashville, Lee met a very special and Godly young lady,
Ms. Bethany Bishop, his girlfriend. The two of them had many special
times together over the last couple of years. They attended Brentwood
United Methodist Church, volunteered at Dream Streets, a program
to help under-resourced families in Nashville, enjoyed hiking in parks
and attending the Nashville Sounds Baseball and Nashville Soccer team
games. They enjoyed studying the bible together.

Lee was a kind-hearted young man who never met a stranger; he was
like that from childhood. He was a fun-loving, positive, adventurous
prankster, who loved to dabble in creating his own culinary masterpieces,
and, of course, sending his family pictures of them. Lee loved God and
his family very much and made one of his 2023 goals to connect more
with his family. He was doing that by facilitating weekly family prayer
calls and frequent family check-ins, along with calling his aunts and
grandmother.

Lee was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. Lucius Lee
Williams, Jr., and Mrs. Willa Mae Williams of Oxford, Mississippi; and
uncle, John P. Williams of Oxford, Mississippi.
Lee leaves to cherish his beautiful memories: his loving parents, Daryl
and Joan Williams of Florence, Alabama; loving sister, Caitlin Williams
of Florence, Alabama; grandmother, Cora J. Mallory of Coldwater,
Mississippi; uncle, Thomas S. Mallory of Coldwater, Mississippi;
aunt, Dr. Darlene Washington of Oxford, Mississippi; cousins, Trey
Washington (Ellie) of Oxford, Mississippi, DaBrianna Bohanna of
Coldwater, Mississippi, and Tacarius Anthony of Byhalia, Mississippi;
special friend, Ms. Bethany Bishop and the Bishop family, who showed
Lee so much love and embraced him as a part of their family; and a host
of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
