Martha Annette Fuqua was born on March 19, 1944, to the late William and Odessia Southward in Midway Tishomingo, Mississippi. She attended Carter Branch School and later Tishomingo High School in Tishomingo, Mississippi. After finishing high school, she attended beautician school in Florence, Alabama. She later married Robert H. Fuqua. After marriage, she joined Cave Spring MB Church and was a faithful member until her health declined. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Fuqua; parents, William and Odessa Southward; one brother, Willie Leesbury Southward; one stepson, David Fuqua; one brother-in-law, Floyd Brock; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Bean and Mary Helen Fuqua.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her one beloved sister, Mary Brock; two daughters, Doris Elaine Johnson and Pippa (Jeffrey) Summerhill; two stepdaughters, Robin Davis and Bonnie Fuqua; two stepsons, Wayne Fuqua and Steven Fuqua; three sisters in-law, Fannie (Andy) Sledge, Flora Fuqua of Leighton, AL, and Sarah Tollfree of Stockton, CA; one brother in-law, Leo Fuqua of Muscle Shoals, AL; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
