Martha Louise
Scott
Jan 30, 1926 — Jul 21, 2026
Florence
We are gathered to celebrate a remarkable century of life, over 100 years. Martha witnessed unparalleled changes in the world, yet her greatest legacy is not what she saw, but the endearing love, wisdom, and faith she poured into her family and community.
Mrs. Martha L. Scott was born January 30, 1926, to the late Samella Hardy. She was a faithful member and the oldest member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church until she passed. Martha was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Samella Hardy; husband, Will Scott; brother, Willie James Stewart; son, Robert Barnett; and grandsons, Willie L. Barnett, Walter J. Barnett, and Robert Barnett, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted daughter, Ella V. Anderson; grandchildren, Shirley Barnett, Martha Raye Barnett, Rod Boddie (Pearline), Demetria Boddie Thompson, Shanta Barnett, Demarcus Robinson, Ricky Barnett, Tiera Barnett, Candace Barnett, Shamela Barnett, Dameka Ingram, Tradarrius Buckmon, Suncieria Buckmon, Maragaret Jones, and Regina Brown; and a host of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Think for a moment about what Mama witnessed during her 100 years. She saw the rise of modern inventions, shifts in culture, and generations of her own family grow and flourish, but more important than the history she lived through was the history she created.
