Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Campbell Ragland was born April 3, 1944, to Annie Odell Campbell and Willie Irvin Campbell, Sr. She departed this life on May 7, 2025, at 12:46 p.m. at home surrounded by family.

She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of St. James M.B. Church, where she served on the mothers' board.

She was a 1961 graduate of Lakeside High School in Decatur, Alabama.

She was employed with ECM Hospital for 44 years until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Annie Campbell; two sisters, Alice Brown and Nella Fletcher; two brothers, Willie Campbell, Jr., and Stacy Thompson; and one grandson, DeRayle Thompson.

She is survived by: her husband, George Ragland; daughters, Gwen Cherry, Arveia Thompson, Sharon Hickman, Floriday Williams, and Cora Ragland; sons, Delvin Campbell, Cedric Thompson (Linda), and Keeton Stewart (Tangela); sisters, Regina Dortch, Mildred Thompson, Vanessa Maston (Ricardo), Flora White, and Inell Davis; brothers, Curtis Thompson (Twana), Bruce Allen (Cynthia); aunts, Betty Chatman and Vera Pruitt; son-in-love, David Cherry; special cousin, Francis McDaniel; 15 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
