Mattie Louise Johnson, was born June 27, 1947, in Florence, Alabama to the late Robert Frank and Louise Johnson. On Friday, January 10, 2020, Our Lord and Savior called Mattie Louise home at her residence in Tishomingo, MS. Mattie Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Bennett and her brother, Robert James Johnson.

Mattie Louise confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age and united with Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church. She later joined St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. She joined Carter's Branch Baptist Church, upon moving to Tishomingo, Ms.; where she was a faithful member until God her home. Mattie Louise was employed by Burger King for 26 years until she moved to Tishomingo, Ms. Mattie Louise enjoyed spending time with family, family gatherings, and friends. She loved her church family. She attended Burrell Slater High School Class of 1966.

Mattie Louise leaves to cherish her memories: A loving sister: Linda Faye Johnson, Sheffield, AL; step-daughters: Wanda Southward, Theresa Bennett and Arnetta (Jimmy) Spears, all of Tishomingo, Ms.; step-sons: Herbert Bennett, Terry (Melissa) Bennett, Hathaway Bennett and Raymond Bennett Jr. of Tishomingo, Ms.; A special sister-in-law: Hattie Johnson of Florence, AL, sisters-in-law: Bennie M (Herman) Nelson and Catherine Southward both of Tishomingo, Ms.; brother-in-law: Willie (Margarete) Robinson of Tishomingo, Ms.; special aunts: Jennie (Funrow) Cole, Jr. and Betty Johnson both of Bellwood, IL. and Hattie M. Boyd of Florence, AL.; special nieces: Kimberly (Tamus) Garner of Harvest, AL. and Ashley (Tony) Dixon of Florence, AL.; special nephew: Kenny Ray (Rolanda) McCainey of Sheffield, AL.; special great nieces: Robyn Johnson of Athens, AL., Katilyn Daniel and Kelsely Lewis of Florence, AL.; and Journee Garner of Harvest, AL.; special great-great niece and nephew Rylnn and Ryder Johnson; A special and devoted friend: Barbara Martin- Abington, Tishomingo, Ms.; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
