Obituary

Minnie Lee Carter Byrd was born on January 26, 1942, to Richard
Howard and Mary Lee Byrd Carter. She was the sixth child of eight.


She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Liberty Baptist in
Allsboro. After the family moved to Barton, Alabama, she moved her
membership to Zion #1 Missionary Baptist Church. Later, she became
a member at Mount Caramel Missionary Baptist Church, where she
served as choir member, missionary society, an active church goer.
She loved her church and church members.


She attended Cherokee Colored High School.


She was joined in holy matrimony to George Emmitt Byrd on January
23, 1971, and to this union was born, Mark Anthony and Stephanie
Lee Byrd.


She was preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Mark;
parents, Richard and Mary Lee; siblings, Betty Ruth (Haint), Willie
(Bill) Carter, Earl Ray (Pop), Sarah (in infancy), Richard III (in
infancy), and Willie McCulskey (in infancy).


She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Stephanie Lee Byrd
of Muscles Shoals, Alabama; son, Darryl Byrd of Detroit, Michigan;
one brother, Charley (Shirley) Carter of Florence, Alabama;
granddaughter, Kami Charnetta (Baby) Dale of Sheffield, Alabama;
special nieces, Valerie and Patricia Carter of Barton, Alabama, and
Tonyia Carter and Kwanda Carter of Florence, Alabama; special
nephews, David (Jackie) Carter of Texas and Dale (Kim) Carter of
Tuscumbia, Alabama; one sister-in-law, Geneva Byrd of Oxford,
Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
