Smith (Tate) was
born May 3, 1962, in
Lauderdale, Alabama,
and departed his life on Sunday,
November 20, 2022, at his home.
He confessed Christ at an early age and
joined Mount New Home Missionary
Baptist Church in Leighton, Alabama.
He, later on, joined St. James Missionary
Baptist Church, Leighton, Alabama,
under the leadership of Reverend Green
Davidson III.
He was preceded in death by his father,
Joe Henry Peters; sisters, Carolyn
Barnett and Valarie Smith; brothers,
William Taylor and Bobbie Boddie;
grandmother, Desree Sales; aunts, Viola
Qualls and Isabelle Taylor, Ella Harris;
uncles, Hal Clay, Frank Clay, and
Curtis Clay; and grandfather, William
Matthew Taylor.
He was loved by all and he loved his
flowers of all kinds.
He leaves behind: a mother, Ms. Patsy
Boddie of Tuscumbia, Alabama; four
sisters, Wanda Gardner of Florence,
Alabama, Viola Smith of Tuscumbia,
Alabama, Beverly Ingram of Muscle
Shoals, Alabama, Jackie Huyghue of
Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and Sandra
West of Leighton, Alabama; one aunt,
Chaney Powell; a host of nieces and
nephews, other relatives, and friends;
a special great-great-niece and nephew,
Arianna McCoy and Quade Crenshaw;
and a special friend, Frank Johnson.
