Such was the life of Polly Averhart, who was born

October 8, 1914, in Pride, Alabama. She was the daughter of

Pearline Stewart and Merion Stewart. She departed this life Friday,

October 11, 2019, at home surrounded by family and friends.

She confessed Christ at an early age and joined St. Luke United

Methodist Church, where she ushered for many years and was

the oldest mother there. She was joined in holy matrimony to

Sam Averhart of Selma, Alabama, until his death.

Polly was preceded in death by: sisters, Viola Ingram and Mary

Smith; stepsister, Lizzie Mason; brother, John Stewart; daughter,

Queen Ester; and son, Willie B. Goodloe.

She leaves to cherish her memories: James (Annie) Averhart, Erskin

(Lucille) Averhart, and Willie (Ann) Averhart; daughter, Arlene

Pryor; devoted nephew, Curtis (Edna) Stewart; devoted and

special great-grandson, XZavior "Duke" Hooks; 13 grandkids,

Darlear (Joe) Malone, Margaret Goodloe, Charlotte Goodloe,

Terry Goodloe, Erskin Jr., Demetria Averhart, Denise Rivera,

Pelicia Anderson, Whitney Averhart, and Frank Averhart; two

special grandchildren, Teresa Decatur and Amanda Averhart;

28 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; 3 greatgreat-

great-grandchildren; a special daughter, Edna Nixon;

special caretaker, Gleria McVay; special niece, Gwen Pugh;

first cousin, James (Constance) Hooks; and special and devoted

friends, Fanny Mae Ramson, Deloris Ramson, Alice Garner,

Doug Johnson, Carol Mason, Mildred Jones, and Jean Estes.
