Robert L.
Roberson
Sep 9, 1935 — Jun 23, 2023
Tuscumbia
Robert Lee Roberson was born to Mrs. Aleana Roberson, a middle child
amongst nine children in Winston County, Mississippi. He grew up there
surrounded with love from many family members including his cousins,
aunts, uncles, and schoolmates. He resided in Mississippi until he completed
his teen years, then followed his older brother, Grady, to the Shoals area of
Alabama where he spent the remaining years.
He lived more than sixty years in the Shoals area, mostly in Cherokee,
Alabama, where he worked several jobs such as driving long-haul trucks,
working in Reynolds Metal Company, and finally at Muscle Shoals Minerals.
During this time, he made several friends at work in addition to singing in
a gospel group, playing baseball, and being a faithful member of Cherokee
Church of Christ. He loved hunting and watching sports events, whether
in-person or on television, and visiting the sick and shut-in.
He met and married Margaret Ann Little in the late 1950s. This past June
4th would have been their 63rd wedding anniversary had she not preceded
him in death a few short months ago. They made a life for themselves
in the Shoals area, mainly Cherokee, having three children, LaDonna
of Huntsville, Alabama, Stacy (Juanita) and Kathy, both of Cherokee,
Alabama, and the child of their heart, Dennis Malone of Atlanta, Georgia.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Grady,
Loudean, Bert, Elverniss, and Gracie.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories: his children; granddaughters,
Karen of Memphis, Tennessee, Leslie of Huntsville, Alabama, Myisha of
Houston, Texas, Jasmine and Chaunte (David), both of Las Vegas, Nevada,
and Anisha Malone of South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Malachi,
Myles, Justin, Laila, and Nasir; sisters, Beverly Eigelberger (Lonnie) of
Kansas City, Missouri, Mildred Williams of Las Vegas, Nevada, and David
Roberson of Flagstaff, Arizona; many nephews and nieces all throughout
the United States; and several cousins. In the last months of his life, he was
attended to by a loving caregiver, Rochelle (Sullivan) Smith, who could
usually get a chuckle out of him when no one else could.
