Robert Lee "Sweet" Simmons was born on October 24, 1945 to the late Lucian "Bud" Simmons and Lela Jackson Simmons. He made a transition on August 5, 2015 at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. Robert confessed his belief in Christ on December 25, 2012 and was baptized on January 1, 2013 by Reverend Ralph O. Thompson and his son, Minister Roger Russell at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Robert Lee retired from Reynolds Metal Company after many years of devoted service. Robert Lee was preceded in death by brothers, Herman Simmons, Thomas "Buck' Simmons, Woodson "Tee" Simmons, and Lucian "Peter" Simmons Jr,.; sisters, Jessie Jean Chandler and Mary Reeder; one grandson, Jerome Russell. He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, April Russell; sons, Roger(LaQuita) Russell, Randy (Jana) Russell, Kelvin Russell, Quinton Simmons, and Jacob Simmons; one sister, Charlotte Davis; two brothers, Frank Simmons, and Leon(Clara)Simmons; sister-in-laws, Katie Simmons and Mattie Simmons; eighteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
