Roosevelt was born January 26, 1935, in Rogersville, Alabama, to the late Sam and Mary Butler. He received Christ at an early age and remained faithful in his commitment to God's word throughout his life. He was a faithful elder at Mount Olive Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He attended East End High School. Roosevelt was a United States Army Veteran, who after his service, retired from Reynolds Metal and then later retired from Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. He was a member of Center Star Lodge #25 for over 60 years.
Surrounded by family at his side, Roosevelt Butler made his transition to his heavenly home on December 11, 2020.
Roosevelt was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Martha Ann Butler, who he shared a life with for over forty years; three sisters, Annie Griffin, Gloria Shoulders, and Mary Nell Butler; and two brothers, Dell Butler and Felix Butler.
Roosevelt leaves to cherish his memories: his loving children, Bernard Butler and Meshele Butler; three brothers, Lionel (Sarah) Butler, Booker Butler, both of Rogersville, Alabama, and Mac Arthur Butler of Florence, Alabama; devoted family friends, Charles Thompson, Sharon Bingham, Sheronica Fuqua, Irma Patrick, and Angela Vinson; ans a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
