Obituary

Rosie Etta Weaver French was born January 6, 1909 to the late Mr. Joe Weaver and Mattie Yarbrough Weaver.  "Ms. Rosie", as she was affectionately called, had one brother and six sisters who preceded her in death.

Ms. Rosie was united  in marriage on December 29, 1928  to Willie Turner French.  God blessed them with seven children:  Joe Willie, Alphonso Lee, Bernice Helen, Mildred Louise, Clyde Ervin, Milton Warren, and Deloris Jean.  Ms. Rosie was dedicated and loyal to her children and family.  Her love for her family and those close to her was evident to anyone who spent even a modest amount of time with her.

Ms. Rosie made sure that it was no secret to anyone that she loved the Lord Jesus Christ.  She received Christ as her Savior and Lord at an early age.  Through the course of her life, she unashamedly told of her experience of "fessin ligion" and running to tell everyone.  While running to spread the good news about her salvation, Ms. Rosie always excitedly told the testimony, "Up above my head, I heard music in the air."  She absolutely loved Gospel music.  In 1944, she united with the Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church, and served faithfully on the Mother's Board and Missionary Society until she began to reside with her daughter as her health began to decline.  The Sweet Home Church Family was certainly a source of her pride and joy.

In recent years, Ms. Rosie continually made known her anticipation of one day being with her Heavenly Father forever.  On Sunday, October 30, 2016, she transitioned from her daughter and son-in-law's house to her Father's house in heaven.  She fittingly left this earth in the arms of her son-in-law, George, and with her daughter, Jean, right beside her.  The two persons who cared for her daily for five years were afforded the honor of being with her in the final moments as her soul took flight.

Those left to celebrate the life and legacy of Mrs. Rosie French are as follows:  her loving daughter and caregiver:  Deloris (George) Green of Athens, Alabama; her son:  Clyde E. French of Los Angeles, California; her son Dr. Milton W. (Carolyn) French of Sacramento, California; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; a special son-in-law; Leo Turner, Jr.; and three special caregivers:  Yolanda Moore, Francita Meaux, and Katrina Mejias; and countless other relatives and friends.

The Family of Rosie Etta Weaver French is in humble gratitude to the Almighty God for 107 years of joyful, impactful, and well-lived life.  We're also grateful that one day we'll see her again.  So, it's not "Good Bye" to this precious lady.  It's simply "See you later" to Mother, Ms. Rosie, Grandmother, and Sweet.  Fly high.  Rest well.  As one of her favorite songs says, we'll see you " way by and by".

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day..."
