Sam Eddie Bates was born November 3rd, 1949, to the late Mr. Levert and Mrs. Delia Perkins- Bates.

He was preceded in death by Levert Bates, Jr. He departed this life on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Cottage of the Shoals. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memories: One daughter: Sherry Bates, Florence, Alabama, Five sisters: Betty Bates and Endia Goodwin, Leighton, Alabama, Ruthie Bates and Evelyn Bates, Sheffield, Alabama, and Dorothy Little, Decatur, Alabama. One brother; Randy Bates, Leighton, Alabama. Three grandchildren; Catricia Bates, Shereka Siner, and Derreckus Siner all of Florence, Alabama; Six great-grandchildren: Zechariah Bates, Carmen Bates, Candice Bates, Ja'Kylan Jones, Ja'Kyiah Jones, and China Siner all of Florence, Alabama. A special niece Kiyana Goodwin and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
