Shannon LaVerne Koger "Cookie" was the fifth child of seven born on December 7, 1968, to James and Marie Jones, Sr. She departed her earthly home for her heavenly home on September 9, 2024.

Shannon attended and graduated from Deshler High where she ran track and was on the homecoming court. She confessed her life to God at an early age at Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie Little.

Shannon was united in holy matrimony to Willie Jerry Koger, and to this union, they had three children, Jerry Demetrius Koger, Willie Jermaine Koger, and RaShanda Monique Beckwith (Keith). She loved living in Colorado Springs until she moved back to Alabama. She loved her family, her sisters, and her brothers. But most importantly, she loved God.

Shannon was preceded in death by her son, Willie Jermane Koger; granddaughter, Riylee Jamarie Koger; mother, Marie Jones; dad, James Jones, Sr.; and sisters, Barbara Pride, Gerneice Goodloe, and Janice Butler.

Shannon leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Willie Jerry Koger of Leighton, AL; son, Jerry Demetrius Koger of Florence, AL, RaShanda Monique Beckwith(Keith) of Florence, AL; grandsons, Terrion Upshaw of Leighton, AL, Tavion Upshaw of Rogersville, AL, Temarrion Skipworth of Florence, AL, Kasir Beckwith of Florence, AL, Ashante and Kyle Beckwith of Florence, AL; one great-grandson, Luca James Upshaw of Rogersville, AL; brothers James Jones Jr. (Josephine) Ypsilanti, Michigan, Richard Jones (Rejetta) Loganville, GA, and Glenda Sue Rhodes (Gary) Florence, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
