Shirley Ann Johnson was born February 5, 1946. She was preceded in death by the late Mr. Eddie L. Johnson Sr. She was the daughter of the late Henry Murphy Sr. and the late Rosie Beckwith, all of Florence, Alabama.
She departed this life on March 24, 2016 at Eliza Memorial Hospital.
She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful and dedicated member of East Florence Missionary Church of Florence, Alabama under the pastorage of Rev. Green Davidson IV, where she remained and served faithfully until she became ill.
She was a nurse of 23 years before retirement and she started her own community outreach organization, where she was committed to helping underprivileged families, a nonprofit organization, where she did fundraisers to help families in need. She attended Burrell Slater High School, graduating with the Class of 1965.
She leaves to cherish her memory: four loving daughters, the late Teresa Murphy Donley, Florence, Alabama, Mary Christine Lester (John), Dallas, Texas, Veronica Ann Savage, Florence, Alabama and Yolanda Murphy Barnett (Dashona Murphy), two sons, Elvin "Bo" Murphy (Paula), Fort, Worth, Texas and Eddie Lee Johnson, Jr., Florence, Alabama, sisters, Elizabeth Skipworth, Rosie (Rev. Albert) Ingram, Gloria (Nathaniel) Martin, the late Martha ( Chester) Dillard, the late Dean Robbs, the late Katherine Turner and the late Marie Murphy, brothers, Henry Murphy Jr., the late Bob Murphy, the late Gus Murphy, the late LC Buwell, all of Florence, Alabama, all of her lovely grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
