Obituary

Shirley Dell Stoneking, the daughter of Tobe and Henrietta Briggs was born January 19 th , 1936 in Tishomingo, OK.  Shirley died Tuesday, February 19 th , 2019 at the age of 83.

Shirley's family moved to Anaheim, CA when she was a young girl.  She became best friends with Robert (Bob) Stoneking and Jack Kay.  The stories they could tell . . . Shirley and Bob married in February of 1954 and had a daughter, Sondra Dell Stoneking in March of 1964.

After their marriage ended, Shirley had several adventures which eventually led her back to Jack Kay.  They spent many happy years together before his passing.  Shirley moved to Florence, AL to be near her daughter, Sondra and her three grandsons, Justin, Robert & Stephen McCulley in 2000.

Shirley loved Elvis Presley and George Jones.  She was 41 before she ever learned to drive a car.  She was a terrible driver, but she never believed it!  She enjoyed taking Sondra, Robin and their friends on long drives in the country with the windows rolled down, hair flying and the radio blasting!  She was a fabulous cook and loved nothing more than feeding her family, except maybe a cold beer . . . she loved her beer!

"Shirley had spunk, she was a character!"  ~ Everyone who knew her.

Shirley spent her final years at Glenwood Nursing Home.  Sondra visited her every day and brought her "favorite beverage."  Sondra told her all her secrets while they watched Gunsmoke & The Andy Griffith Show.

Shirley was very loved, and she will be greatly missed.  She is survived by her daughter, Sondra Rackard and her husband Randy.  Grandchildren:  Justin McCulley, Robert McCulley & Stephen McCulley.  Brother, John Briggs and wife Donna.  Nephew, Wally Thrun and wife Lori along with many more nephews & nieces.  The daughter of her heart, Sondra's sister, Robin Hyndman and husband Joe and their son, Jordan Stoneking.

"Their  are questions I'm still not wise enough to answer, just wise enough to no longer ask."

~  George Jones

During the service, we would like to celebrate Shirley's life by sharing special memories with family & friends.

This is a time to remember her beautiful smile and all of the ways that she made our lives better while she was here with us on this earth.

"Until we meet again,

May God bless you

As he has blessed me."

~ Elvis Presley
